Freedom to organise! National speaking tour comes to Brighton

March 15, 2010

The acting Secretary of the International Workers’ Association (IWA) will be speaking in Brighton on the recent repression of anarcho-syndicalists in Europe. The incumbent IWA secretary is one of the Belgrade Six framed on international terrorism charges.

Tuesday 16th March | 19:30 | The Cowley Club (back room) | 12 London Rd Brighton

***ADDITIONAL VENUE***

Tuesday 16th March | 16:00 | Arts A2 Occupied Lecture Theatre | University of Sussex, Falmer, Brighton

The talk will also cover the Free Workers’ Union in Berlin (FAU-B) who have been effectively banned by bosses using the courts. In Germany, no workers’ organisation is legally allowed to take collective action or call themselves a union unless they can demonstrate an ability to negotiate contracts on behalf of workers, and under this rule the FAU-B have been threatened with massive fines and prison sentences.

    Hey,

I went to the talk in Bradford, but had to leave early – any chance you folks could record the talk when it comes to Brighton and stick it on the internet?

    Cheers,
    Matt

Assuming the speakers are okay with being filmed, we are intending to video it.
